Datuk Haji Mohd Ismail Bin Haji Mohd Shah

An MBA graduate from the University of Bath, UK, Datuk Haji Mohd Ismail is the founder of Muarlite Industries Sdn. Bhd., established in 1989 and recognized for its SIRIM-certified street lighting products. With roots in the construction industry, he has grown Muarlite into a trusted brand. Actively involved in community and sports, he has held leadership roles in local associations and charitable organizations in Johor.

He passed away on 25th October 2025, leaving behind a lasting legacy of dedication and service. His legacy is now carried forward by his children, led by Puan Azrenda binti Datuk Haji Mohd Ismail as Managing Director.

Founded in 1989 and officiated by YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Muarlite Industries began with 30 employees and has grown to a workforce of 100 employees. The company specializes in manufacturing street lighting and accessories, with products ranging from traditional fittings to modern LED street lights.

Recognized by SIRIM, TNB, UPM, UTM, and international labs, Muarlite supplies quality-certified products to major clients such as TNB, JKR, local councils, and private contractors. As an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified company, Muarlite continues to strengthen its position in Malaysia and aims to expand into global markets.

Since 1989, Muarlite Industries Sdn. Bhd. has grown from a small local manufacturer into a trusted name in Malaysia’s street lighting industry. Our journey reflects continuous innovation, quality, and commitment to sustainability.

05 January 1989
Muarlite Industries Sdn. Bhd. was officially registered, founded by the late Datuk Hj. Mohd Ismail bin Hj. Mohd Shah after years of technical research and market studies in the street lighting industry.
11 January 1989
The company was inaugurated by YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was then the Menteri Besar of Johor.
29 March 1990
Received approval from the Department of Machinery and Manufacturing (now MIDA) to commence its first production.
1990's
Began operations with 30 employees, focusing on High Pressure Sodium Vapour (HPSV) streetlights (70W–400W) and accessories such as ballasts, gnitors, and PECUs.
2018
l Introduced energy-efficient LED streetlights (75W–200W) into the product line.
2020
l Introduced energy-efficient LED streetlights (75W–200W) into the product line.
2023
Recognized by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living for the use of the Malaysian Product Logo.
01 January 2024
Celebrated the company’s 35th anniversary with a workforce of 100 employees.
2024
Granted authorization to use the MyHijau Mark for eco-friendly products and launched new product lines, including floodlights, solar LED streetlights, and mini isolator switches.
